Took Friday off work, spent almost 7 hours at the Club field - weather was good, if not a little windy which made for some interesting flying conditions.. This flight is short - I landed as the timer expired but I must not have reset it before launching, I think I lost a good 1.30 of flying time.. LOL... Hope you enjoy this my 11th Flying session for 2024...

Hard Landing resulting in damaged support area for nose gear - the gear itself is OK just need to strengthen the area that supports it.... otherwise a reasonable flight - But I think the K8 will go to the model shop to be sold.

HI everyone, well I finally got down to the field after some three / four weeks of life getting in the way of RC Flying - it turned out to be a Brilliant session (10th session for 2024), I would say that Flying Session 10, was a Gear bashing, battery draining success..... Got my Twinliner in the air today. Had to hand launch as our grass was too long. Flying on a 1300 3s rather than a heavy 4s, the hand launch was ok, just, but no head wind so a bit marginal. A 3 1/2 minute flight at half throttle where she flies at quite a scale speed thanks to the reduced wing loading. I'll be adding split flaps to reduce the landing speed further. Bigger diameter wheels will help grass ops so thats on my list of mods too !

    I really like this Xfly airliner, Martyn. If it was me I'd velcro to rx to the battery hatch. In the end, it appears the gear is relatively stout. I bet it'll take off from grass, kick it in the guts, Barry!! Good stuff my friend, AirHammer out!! Edit: as long as the edfs don't think they're vacuums...

    • @FlankerTanker
      @FlankerTanker 4 дні тому

      Hi Airhammer - Yes I can see how that would work (velcro the RC onto the battery hatch), Indeed, and I have been told that quite a lot of people have had the same issues with installing it as I have... but once done its solid, It should take off from my field we look after the grass and keep it smooth as we can and short, , love the Mad Max quote - here is mine " It's the last of the V8's" LOL Cheers, Martyn OUT !

    I had trouble getting the wheels to locate in the slot. I used a flat screw driver to push them in whilst supporting the wing by my hand. In retrospect I should have laid the wing on the table as the force required to push them in could lead to stabbing yourself if you slip ! I've now maidened it running a 1300 120c 3s lipo. That was off grass too, you really don't need a big 4s pack, it flies around nicely on a light 3s and can be slowed down more than on a heavy 4s judging by some of the youtube footage I've seen.

    • @FlankerTanker
      @FlankerTanker 4 дні тому

      Hi Catherine, Oh wow my Plyers were quit thick on the tips and I had not even thought about what would happen if they slip ..DOH !!!!, I did the same as you one had under( on top to the wind) and the other pushing the gear wire into the slot, Spoiler alert..... I have maidened mine on .......Wait for it....... Overlander 2900mAh 35c 4s Lipo, and it handled the grass no issues at all..I did have a RX/TX hold, (NOT GOOD) just short of landing what put the RX into Failsafe, but I managed to get it down with no damage at all..apart from that the maiden was great and then Maiden + 1 was really very good and enjoyable, I am looking forward to messing around a little with the Twinliner on the next flights (loops, Rolls, Verticals....etc..), Thanks for watching and leaving your comment, Cheers Martyn

    Thanks for the video Martyn - this is an incredibly quick assembly! I was interested about a hand launch too - as you say wheels are small but also the engines are frighteningly close to the ground if you are taking off from grass!!

      Hi Paul, All done and dusted - just the maiden awaits this weekend... I agree having taken a close look both the nacelles do look vulnerable especially if one was to belly land it they could get ripped off.. I will see how it does with the Gear installed ...Cheers Martyn

    Great video again, for context was this model sent to you free of charge or paid from your own funds? I don't think I missed and apologies if you did, but I think it is definitely worth mentioning in your content, and also where you got it from and the price paid.

      HI thanks for the notes - every single aircraft I show on my channel has been purchased from my own hard earned funds - I accept nothing from Manufacturers, I never have nor ever will monitirise any of my videos - they are all made for the love of the Hobby at my own expense and time, they are not in any way part of my income stream. this means I have no pressure on what I do, say, or how many videos I make or when or indeed what sound tracks I use in them, I do not make the videos to suggest that anyone gets one of the aircraft, for that reason I tend not to say where I get my aircraft from or how much they cost (after all its all very subjective and indeed funded from my own income so I keep it Private). I very much appreciate your feedback - thanks again for leaving your comment. Cheers...
